Misty Mountains. Oil painting

This artwork entitled Misty Mountains is 12” x 16”. I used plenty of Titanium White with some Cadmium red to get the lovely pink hughes in the sky. I wanted to paint a nice very soft peaceful scene, hence the colour selection used. I was trying to capture the feeling of tranquility of being in the middle of the bush, in amoung the trees, with birds flying overhead.

These paintings are now on display at the "Beach Shack" in the Gallery Walk at Mt Tamborine. They are all  beautifully framed and ready to hang.

"Snow Gums" painting

There is nothing more stunning than the "Snow Gums". This painting is 16" x 20". There are many different sorts of gum trees throughout Australia, but I can't help but be amazed how the Snow Gums survive the bitter cold. This scene shows an old shack on the snow fields. Don't see many of these snow gums in Queensland, but down south in Victoria where I come from you will find them.

Windmill at Sunset

I painted this oil painting the other night. It is 16" x 20" in size. I have travelled extensively throughout the Queensland countryside, and one of the common sites I have seen are the old windmills. This artwork captures an old windmill and watertank. I set the scene at sunset to show the intense colours that I could soloette the windmill and tank against. I added in the birds flying in the sky, as you so often see them in the air near sunset. It is painted on stretched canvas.

This year I plan to seek representation at a lot more galleries around Queensland, and will again be putting my works in a lot of the upcoming art shows including Quota Art Show Jimboomba, Aspects Art Show Goondiwindi, Ipswich Art Show, Rotary Spectacular in Brisbane, and many more.

"Sunset on the Farm" oil painting

This oil painting is 12" x 16" in size.  I was trying to capture one of the brilliant Australian sunsets out in the country. I was trying to capture the peaceful feeling that comes from being out in the quiet of the countryside. There are many old farms like this scattered all through the vast Australian landscape.

Oil Painting entitled "Camping"

This oil painting is 60cm x 90cm in size. I painted it last week. I was trying to capture the splendour of the Australian countryside with the light glowing over the mountains. It was a scene I created from my head. Before I started I had pictured the mountains and a waterfall flowing from the hills into a stunning lake. As the picture developed I was pleased with how serene and tranquil it was, and decided it would be a lovely place for camping, hence I added in the tent. I added an Australian gum tree in the middle ground, but not too close to the tent (only because of the old saying 'never pitch your tent under a gum tree in case a branch falls'). I painted the sky in white and then added in some yellow ochre and a blue-violet that I mixed using Ultramarine blue and red.
